So i have a VW caddy van 1.9sdi and i have had a intermittent stalling problem. The engine runs fine but then will all of a sudden stall. I have opened the bonnet and looked at the clear line going from the fuel filter to the pump and sometimes bubbles appear. Sometimes they are large and sometimes they are small.
There is the fuel return line that has a T junction that returns fuel into the filter that doesn't look too secure but im assuming this wouldn't cause the engine to stall while the vehicle is in motion?? Im quite convinced that it is a fuel starvation problem. any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Always change the fuel filter at the first sign of a problem before you go further. I had a problem with a SDI years ago and it was the temperature sender at the front of the engine block in a plastic housing that was giving a false reading and causing running problems although not those you describe.
